The chains do not have swivel ends and the kevlar wicks are small. Thought they would be malde stronger but these will work for a beginner

Easy to approach, fun to spin

I bought these as my first set of fire poi, and they are a blast! After a few sessions I am pretty comfortable spinning them and am ready to approach fancier moves. You will be too, thanks to the chain length. It's a nice goldilocks length that lets you build up speed while maintaining control. The 65mm wicks burn plenty bright--and long--if you let them absorb enough kerosene. Two things I'd recommend in conjunction with these poi:
-A set of clothes you don't mind getting sooty. This is because after the first burn, the wicks become black and rub off soot when they touch skin and cloth. I find it helpful to wear a grey/black sacrificial garment so I don't get burned or ruin a good shirt when I mess up.
-Get a small glass or ceramic vessel to plunk these down in between burns. Of course the poi will be sooty, and they will also get HOT. And, you can pour kerosene into the dish to have the wicks soak up instead of spilling when trying to douse them. Having a non-flammable basin to rest the wicks in will make these a lot easier to use, for sure.
Happy spinning!
