Aerial Silks and Slings Information Page

All Firetoys Aerial Equipment is fully certified in the UK, with certificates available on request.
Load and destructive tests are performed regularly on all equipment at independent UK testing facilities. Further testing details are available on request.

Lifespan

  • Recommended usage is limited to a maximum of 3 years or 300 hours, whichever comes first. Please note that the number of hours used does not guarantee the lifespan of the equipment; its durability depends on how it is used and whether it passes inspections.
  • Regular inspections of the equipment are necessary. If it does not pass inspection, cease its use immediately.

Construction Material

  • Made from medium stretch 100% polyester.
  • This Firetoys Aerial Silk has been carefully measured, cut, and fully inspected by trained professionals in the UK.
  • All components are UK made and where relevant CE marked.
  • A random sample is tested to destruction at an independent UK facility regularly to ensure consistency.

Storage

  • When not in use, store in a dry place away from moisture and sunlight.
For washing instructions please visit https://www.firetoys.co.uk/blogs/aerial/how-to-wash-aerial-silks
  • Never use solvents or industrial cleaners on silks

Working Load Limits

  • The WLL limit is calculated from a 7:1 Factor of Safety (FOS) based on damage,
    not destruction.
  • Suitable for dynamic loading as expected in Aerial.
  • Do not exceed the manufacturer's WLL
  • Firetoys Silks: 128kg WLL
  • Firetoys Youth Silks: 100kg

Inspection

  • Check the entire length of the fabric for tears or excessive wear.
  • Smell fabric to check for moisture contamination.
  • Check all rigging equipment thoroughly before use.
  • Always make sure the equipment is setup by an experienced rigger.
  • If any wear or damage is present do not use.
  • Aerial silks will wear with use and recommended maximum usage times should never be exceeded.

Rigging

  • Rigging should be undertaken by a professional or experienced rigger.
  • The structure and anchor points used are suitable for the forces you generate.
This could be an appropriately rated freestanding rig or anchor points installed by a professional who understands the forces involved with dynamic aerial acrobatics. Installations in a home or other building must have the prior involvement of a structural engineer.
  • Regular inspections are performed before/after each use of the equipment.
  • Permissions are gained before rigging if appropriate.
