Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic gymnastics discipline that involves the use of a prop - either a ribbon, a hoop, a pair of clubs or a ball. The gymnasts perform feats of acrobatics, dance and flexibility while manipulating the props. Rhythmic gymnastics isn't exactly a circus discipline but there is a large amount of crossover. For example, the clubs in rhythmic gymnastics are very similar to swinging clubs, a traditional circus prop, that in turn shares many techniques with poi spinning. The rhythmic gymnastic balls have a lot in common with contact juggling (and are actually pretty good for ball spinning) and the hoop has obvious similarities to hula hooping.
