The Flame Master Fest is a week-long festival of fire dancing held in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. This gathering stands out from the crowd, not just because it’s held in a beautiful resort in sunny Mexico but because it features a competition with significant prize money.

Like other spinning festivals and conventions there are workshops throughout the day covering poi, hoop, staff, contact staff, devilsticks, juggling, dance, partner poi and even “corporeal expression”. Solstix, Loooop, Ari and Paul Rozaire are among the special guests teaching workshops and exhibiting their shows. There will also be entertainment in the evenings featuring bands and DJs.

The competitions cover the disciplines of multiple staff, contact staff, fire eating/breathing, fire fans, hoop, poi, partner poi and a group competition. The qualifiers are held during the day with the 8 top performers in each area progressing to the finals the following day.

The Flame Master Fest has been heavily publicised and their promo video sports some of the most professional videography of any spinning or juggling event. In fact, the whole package looks like it’s received much more investment than your average spinning event. This is, at least in part, due to the level of sponsorship the event has secured.

We hope Flame Master Fest lives up to the hype and they get plenty of guests and competitors to make their inaugural year go off with a bang. Of course, we will be reporting on the outcome of the event and the winners of the competitions so watch this space.
