Buy your slackline here! Ever since its inception way back in the late ‘70s slacklining has been growing in popularity and was even part of the half time entertainment at the 2012 Superbowl! For those who don’t know, a slack line is like a tight rope but made from nylon webbing, flat and under much less tension, keeping it slack. This makes them easy to set up in your local park and allows for a vast array of tricks to be performed. Slacklines are possibly the coolest thing on our shelves at the moment!
We stock great value Macaco slacklines that are ideal for beginners and more experienced riders. These two-piece lines are easy set up and include a ratchet. The width of this line is great for beginners as it’s easier to balance but a wide line is also what you want for tricking. Thinner lines are generally preferred for longlining.
Styles of slack lining include tricking (performing turns, drops, bounces and flips on the line), highlining (slacklining high up – for experienced riders only!), waterlining (riding above or even below water – good for people learning tricks) and freestyle or rodeo slacklining which uses a very slack line for swinging moves.
Slacklining is great for improving balance, co-ordination, concentration and strength. Many surf, ski and snowboard teams use slacklines for training purposes. But more importantly it’s jolly good fun! Rig the line between two trees, grab some friends, book some sunshine and you’re set up for the day (or perhaps the month!)
